NHS 65: West Indian contribution to the state health service

Mark Dean

Available for over a year

Barely a fortnight has passed since we celebrated 65 years of West Indian 'Windrush' contributions to British life -- but it was also the birth of the National Health Service, the single largest employer of black and minority ethnic people in England. Professor Carol Baxter CBE came to the UK from Jamaica in 1970 to train as a nurse, midwife, health visitor...and today is Head of equality and diversity at NHS Employers (represents the NHS workforce). In this clip she tells Â鶹Éç Northampton’s Mark Dean what attracted her to the service.
