Living in pain, being susceptible to infection, and the only chance of a cure is a risky bone marrow transplant. That's the day-to-day reality for people with Sickle Cell disease. The condition mainly affects black people and is now the most common inherited condition in some parts of the UK. July is also Sickle Cell Awareness month. In this extrace Beverley Bell Jessop, whose two sons both have sickle cell, tells Nesta McGregor how the condition affects them.
