Civil rights campaigner Reverend Jesse Jackson has been in Birmingham to mark the 50th anniversary of Dr Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a Dream’ speech. The US preacher spoke at the new Library of Birmingham, a day after the £188 million library opened. Reverend Jackson, who’s 71, was the guest of the city council and Operation Black Vote, an organisation working to improve racial equality. In this extract he speaks to Âé¶¹Éç WM’s Joe Aldred, recalling the last moments of the life of Dr King.
