'Black churches should do more to tackle HIV stigma' - Nottingham

Reya El-Salahi

Available for over a year

More than 3,700 people are living with HIV in the East Midlands, according to new figures from Public Health England. And almost one in four of those diagnosed last year were from African and Caribbean communities. The number of people infected with the virus and going undiagnosed remains unacceptably high according to the government agency. In the run up to National HIV Testing Week, Kenyan-born Reverend Piety Kamuyu from Nottingham's St Andrew's Church, is calling for black-majority churches to take the lead on tackling the stigma around HIV.
