Dementia Summit

World Business Report

Available for over a year

Dementia has been described as a 鈥済lobal disaster waiting to happen鈥 and looking after sufferers currently costs economies more than $600 billion a year. The number of people with the condition is expected to rise from 44 million today to 135 million by 2050. But at a summit in London, G8 ministers have committed to developing a cure by the middle of the next decade. Also should Britain and the US continue the policy of quantitative easing to stimulate their economies? And, Simon Tulett reports from Rome on a controversial new tourist tax being introduced by some cash-strapped European cities. (Image: Hands holding a black and white picture of a woman and baby.
