Mark Duggan: The law explained

Reya El-Salahi

Available for over a year

An inquest jury has concluded that the killing of Mark Duggan by police in Tottenham, North London during the summer of 2011 was lawful. Jurors decided the 29-year-old did have a gun, but it was not in his hand when he was shot - A point which has led many prominent figures from Britain's black communities to question the decision. To get a better understanding of the law, the 麻豆社's Reya El-Salahi has been speaking to barrister Tunde Okewale from Urban Lawyers, an organisation educating young people about the law and improving their understanding of the Criminal Justice System. In this extract he begins by explaining why the inquest took place with a jury.
