"I wouldn't like to be employed based on my race"

Mark Dean

Available for over a year

There have been numerous calls in recent months for police forces to do more to better reflect Britain's diverse communities. But a proposal to introduce a legal requirement for the number of black and ethnic minority officers recruited by the police, has been declined. Home Office Minister Damian Green rejected Labour MP Jonathan Ashworth's calls for the Government to introduce a quota, saying it would create more problems than it would solve. In this extract, Franstine Jones, President of the National Black Police Association, talks to the Â鶹Éç's Mark Dean about the pros and cons of quotas.
