Newshour

Available for over a year

The end of Australia’s car manufacturing industry is in sight – Toyota says it will cease car and engine production in the country by 2017. The company cited the strong Australian dollar, high production costs and an extremely competitive market as being behind the decision. Last year Ford and General Motors also said they would stop producing cars. Paul Bastian is the National Secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union.
