Archaeologists believe the wreck of a World War One U-boat, marooned on a mud-bank in the River Medway in Kent is the last of its kind which can still be seen and even visited with caution. The captured submarine was brought to the river in 1921 and was partially dismantled, but mystery surrounds the reasons why a large part of the hull was left to rot. The wreck is so decayed that it鈥檚 proved impossible to identify the vessel or shed light on what operations it may have been involved in and just why it now lies alone on the Kent coastline. The U-boat may now be used as a model to train marine archaeologists before they dive on wrecks beneath the sea.
