North Korea: UN inquiry calls for action over ‘unspeakable atrocities’

Newshour

Available for over a year

A United Nations panel has accused North Korea of crimes against humanity and warned the country's leader, Kim Jong-un, that he could be held personally accountable. The human rights investigators accused North Korea of systematic extermination, torture, rape, forced abortions and starvation and drew parallels with Nazi Germany. It is recommending prosecution of top leaders by the International Criminal Court. North Korea has already rejected the report. In this sequence, hear from some of those who gave evidence to the panel, and the man who chaired the investigating committee. You may find some of these accounts distressing.
