Olympic gold medal champion Jessica Ennis Hill said fellow heptathlon athlete Katarina Johnson Thompson is “really capable” of getting a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in summer 2014: “I think it is going to be a fantastic championships for her, I think that showing what she’s showed already so early on in the season, she’s on absolutely incredible form and she’s only going to take that into the summer; so I think to Commonwealth Games this year is a great championships for her to show what she’s got and I think she is really capable of taking the gold medal here.” Jessica Ennis Hill, who is not taking part in the championships because she is pregnant, said she would “have absolutely loved to have competed” but is “very excited” at becoming a mum and is keeping fit: “I’ve got my coach and my team around me and they are advising me on what’s sensible to do and what I can and can’t do so I am keeping some level of fitness and doing a bit of light running and on the bike and doing what I can to tick over and keep some level of fitness and as healthy as I can.”
