Tributes have been made to the actor Bob Hoskins who has died at the age of 71, following pneumonia. Jan Dunn, who directed Bob Hoskins in low-budget British film Ruby Blue said he was an “absolutely fantastic” man who "will be lost and grieved by many, many people". Jan also praised his support of new film-makers and recalled her experience of working with him: “What I particularly remember fondly about Bob is he called himself ‘one take Bob’, and I only had two weeks to shoot the film so he had met his match with me, because I’m ‘one take Jan’ because I just don’t have six weeks to shoot on the budget I shoot with.” Simone Reynolds, who cast him in The Long Good Friday said he was “a remarkable man…with a sheer force of energy, wit and intelligence" who had “honed his craft” in the theatre. Bob Hoskins retired in 2012 after a diagnosis of Parkinson’s. His long list of film credits also includes Nixon, Made in Dagenham, and Mermaids. He also won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar for Mona Lisa, and starred in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. This clip is from Richard Bacon on 30 April.
