A four-day summit on sexual violence in war has begun in London. Of those there was Dr Denis Mukwege, a man who has treated some thirty thousand women and children, raped in villages in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He left the country after an attempt on his life, and was reluctant to return but was persuaded back by the women who rely on him to help them. He talks about how he would characterise the use of rape in the DR Congo. You may find some of his account distressing.
