Bangor, Maine is a city situated on the north east coast of the USA. Famous for its lumbering trade and paper industry, it is also the setting of many of Stephen King's novels and films! Bangor, Gwynedd is a university town in north Wales and one of the UK's smallest cities. Its cathedral can be traced back to the sixth century, where the tomb of Owain Gwynedd (Prince Madog's father) can be found. The Beatles learnt of the death of their manager Brian Epstein while studying Transcendental Meditation in Bangor, Gwynedd in 1967. The Welsh word 'bangor' refers to the wattled fence enclosure that originally encompassed the church and monastery founded by St Deiniol in c. 525AD. Bangor is also a place name in Northern Ireland and Brittany.
