Is Climate Change Killing the Great Barrier Reef?

Weekend

Available for over a year

We're often hearing that coral reefs are endangered and damaged, and perhaps we take no notice. The Australian government issued a report on that marvel of nature, the Great Barrier Reef, which is around 2,300 kilometres long. It says that despite conservation efforts, the reef's fragile structure had worsened over the last five years, citing climate change as the main cause. Professor Charles Sheppard is an expert on coral reefs. He first describes what it's like to explore a great reef, and then talks to presenter Julian Worricker and his programme guests.
