US Congressional Elections

Business Daily

Available for over a year

The US Congressional elections being held this week are known as the mid-terms, because they come half-way through the President's term in office. So how will the state of the US economy and in particular the challenges in the jobs market affect voting? Federal Reserve governor Randall Kroszner gives his assessment. The headline unemployment rate is not high, but that doesn't capture everybody who wants a job or wants to work longer hours. So the labour market is not as strong as it looks at first sight. He also sets out how the election result might affect the economy. And our regular contributor Lucy Kellaway of the Financial Times, looks at the typo - the typing mistake. Why we make them and how they can sometimes matter more than you might imagine.
