How a super computer could revolutionise weather forecasts

It costs close to 拢100m, performs 16 quadrillion calculations every second, weighs around 140 tonnes and could revolutionise our weather forecasts. Head of the Public Weather Service at the Met Office Derrick Ryall says the new super computer can perform 10 to 15 times more calculations a second than its predecessor which can give weather forecasts a greater degree of accuracy, but it 鈥渃an鈥檛 change the weather鈥 so you may still get caught in a shower.
