Park refuses grandfather entry due 'lone adult' ban

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

A grandfather who was refused entry to a family park because he was a lone adult says he felt "discriminated against". Matthew Richards, 54, said it was "crazy" for Puxton Park, near Weston-super-Mare, to refuse him entry to see the falconry display, despite the attraction being "of interest" to adults. The park's managing director, Alistair Mead, said Mr Richards could have attended if he had pre-booked, or attended with another adult. "We set the policy speaking to other parks in the local area and nationally," Mr Mead said. "It's just all about minimising the risk." This clip is originally from 5 live Daily on November 10 2014.
