A football finance expert says it would be “economic madness” for Premier League clubs to slash ticket prices, because “most clubs can sell out [games] at existing price levels”. Sky and BT Sport have agreed to pay more than £5.1 billion for the rights to show Premier League matches for three seasons from 2016. Kieran Maguire from Liverpool University says this is a minimum of £35 million for each club every year.
