MP: School sex education "entitlement of young people"

Today

Available for over a year

Graham Stuart chairs the education committee that said sex education should be compulsory in all primary and secondary schools across England, including academies. They said too many schools are doing a poor job teaching about sex and relationships. It is compulsory in maintained secondary schools. Academies and free schools, which now make up about half of schools, don't have to follow the national curriculum. 鈥淲hen you put that in the context of cyber-bullying, 'sexting', pervasive internet pornography; with the backdrop of child abuse scandals in Rotherham, Manchester and beyond; we feel that it is the entitlement of young people to be given the education and the information they need, and we know that that view is overwhelming backed by parents, young people themselves and indeed by teachers," said Mr Stuart.
