Preserving Ireland's traditional folk songs

Radio 4 in Four

Available for over a year

Sam Lee is a 'song collector' trying to salvage the fading tradition of Irish gypsy folk music, many of which have been passed down through the generations but never written down or recorded. Lee, picture above on the right, is now travelling around Ireland recording the songs before they’re lost to living memory and is touched by the way this shared musical history makes friends out of strangers. First broadcast on Today, 26 March 2015.
