'Digital humanitarians' help relief effort in Nepal

World Business Report

Available for over a year

As rescuers scour rubble in Nepal, a digital humanitarian effort also swings into action. We hear about crowdsourcing efforts online to map the disaster, and find survivors. Our guest is Patrick Meier, director of social innovation at the Qatar Computing Research Institute. He's also the author of a new book: Digital Humanitarians. Also in the programme, we hear why a grand plan to redevelop London's docks for business hasn't got the thumbs up from everyone. Plus the smashed up art, which used to be worth millions, now featuring in a new exhibition in Chicago. Elka Krajewska is founder of the Salvage Art Institute in New York, and is curating the 'No Longer Art' show in Illinois. And our regular commentator Lucy Kellaway examines the art of the resignation letter. Picture: Nepali troops aid the relief effort. Picture credit: AP
