Disabled model: 'My identity was stripped away from me'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

A fashion model says that people with disabilities are "being completely shunned" from the industry. Chelsey Jay has Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS), which causes sufferers to pass out when they stand. Jay, a member of the ‘Models of Diversity’ group, said she went from being seen "everywhere" to "literally nowhere" after diagnosis. "It was almost as if essentially because I sit down my identity has been stripped away from me," she added. This clip is originally from Afternoon Edition on Monday 27 April 2015.
