A son filmed being berated by his mother during the Baltimore riots says he will "try to do better". Michael Graham was masked and carrying a rock when his mother Toya arrived at the scene of the clashes and repeatedly slapped him for taking part. “The first thing she said was ‘put that rock down’,” said Michael. “I turned around like ‘oh, snap that’s my mother’ – I didn’t know what to do." Toya said: "I shield Michael a lot from the street, I try to stop him from being harmed or being in danger so he understands why I reacted like I did. "Sometimes that pushes him away from me because it's like I'm stopping him from being a child, I understand that but at the same time I don't want to lose my son," she added.
