Kite Runner author, Khaled Hosseini, on life for Syria's refugees

Newsday

Available for over a year

"It's a synthetic, artificial existence" - author of The Kite Runner and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Khaled Hosseini, describes the life of Syrian refugees who've fled to Jordan. But during his visit to the refugee camps there, he also saw how innovation and resourcefulness had allowed some aspects of normal life to continue. There's even a shopping street selling wedding dresses and other goods - known affectionately as the Champs-Elysées. Picture: Khaled Hosseini during his visit to the refugee camps.
