According to a new study many of those who appear to be putting in the hours at work, especially men, are actually the worst slackers. Erin Reid, assistant professor at Boston University's Questrom Business School, recently completed a study of a large US-based global strategy consulting firm, and found many people who looked busy were actually slacking off. Mike Phipps, author of the book 21 Dirty Tricks at Work, said slackers often "appear to be very busy, overstretched and overworked. They will certainly complain about that. But when you look at what the net output is - they're actually not doing anything at all really.” “The whole act is just a cover up position to try to prevent other work coming in, but also to justify their own existence,” he added.
