Bereaved parent: Paracetamol challenge is 'stupid'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Pete Yousaf's daughter Charlotte died in 2011 after a paracetamol overdose. He's now adding his voice to those warning parents and young people about the dangers of the so-called 'paracetamol challenge' -- which appears to encourage people to abuse the over-the-counter painkillers. He told Phil Williams how his daughter took 20 paracetamol tablets on the day she'd had an argument with her boyfriend. Mr Yousaf said that even though she'd been sick from the pills, "whatever was left in there was enough to poison her and kill her." He said that as the maximum dose of tablets in one day is eight, if you took any more than that, "you'd be poisoning yourself" This clip is originally from Phil Williams on 01 June 2015
