Boys from poorer backgrounds who do well at primary school are going on to seriously underachieve in their GCSE's, according to new research. Researchers from the Sutton Trust have found that 36% of 'highly able' boys they surveyed in England did badly in their GCSE results, after doing well at their SATs tests. Basil Al-Tai was expelled from one school he went to in London before turning his life around, and is now studying law. He's now working with the Future First charity and going back to his old school to mentor students there. Basil tells Peter Allen why he thinks clever boys from disadvantaged backgrounds can 'fall off the tracks'. This clip is from 5 live Daily 3 June 2015.
