More than 7,000 migrants have been rescued from overcrowded boats crossing the Mediterranean to Europe since Friday. The charity Medecins sans Frontieres is running its own operation in the Mediterranean. We've asked Erna Rijnierse, an MSF doctor aboard a rescue ship - or Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS) - to record a diary of her experience for us. She speaks to a colleague about how the flow of migrants has slowed recently but is expected to rise again and how the sea is much better patrolled now the various European countries have sent out their own ships.
