Rob McNeil from the Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford breaks down some of the migration figures. According to figures from the UNHCR, the UK received 36, 383 asylum applications by the end of 2014. Germany received 226,191 asylum applications, Sweden 56,784 and France 55, 862 in the same period.
