A school in Stoke has banned pupils from wearing skirts because they say too much time is wasted telling girls they're too short. The ban at Trentham High School comes into force in September where skirts are being replaced with 'business-like' trousers. The deputy head Lawrence Morris said it’s “ridiculous” that he and other teachers spend meetings discussing “the length of girls’ skirts” rather than how to “improve their performance”. He said “when we’re trying to do the job of educating young people, why waste time with things like that?” The school has received criticism for “stifling” girls’ creativity, but Morris said the girls can express themselves by being “mathematicians, scientists” and writing poetry, not through the length of their skirts.
