From the Lionesses roaring at the women's world cup in Canada and the likes of Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova impressing at Wimbledon, we've been talking a lot about the role of women in sport recently. Well, it was during a conversation on the phone in recently about women in sport that Doreen Payne from Syston called me to remind me that Lawn Bowls was a fantastic sport for women to do. Doreen has been a member at Syston Bowling Club since the mid 70s. She's been the club's president three times and County president too back in 1997. &
