£1 million work of art? That's just my noticeboard!

Newsday

Available for over a year

It's the stuff of dreams - the old painting you use as your kitchen noticeboard is actually worth a fortune. That's what happened to a London family. And it gets even more intriguing: the painting was actually sold to raise funds for Nelson Mandela's defence during his treason trial in the 1950's. Giles Peppiatt, the Director of the South African art department at Bonhams auction house, hopes to sell the picture for a million pounds.
