Football's greatest virtual player? Cherno Samba retires

Not by the Playbook

Available for over a year

Video games are becoming a sport in their own right and one footballer in particular - Gambia born Cherno Samba - knows just how the lines between the real and virtual world can became blurred. Samba retired from football this week, and while he spent his year's playing in the lower leagues in England and Europe many people remember him for his world beating form in the Football Manager video game. Samba was tipped for greatness early in his career, and his promise made the computer game's creators back his virtual character. It never quite materialised in real life for Cherno, who spoke to Sarah Mulkerrins about his career on both the real and virtual pitch: (Picture: Cherno Samba, credit: Getty Images)
