Ghanaian dancehall and reggae performer Samini is using his music to draw attention to the desperate need for clean and affordable drinking water in his home country. One third of the population there lacks access to safe water. While on a tour in the United States, he performed at a benefit concert for the Safe Water Network (SWN), an NGO co-founded in 2006 by the late actor, activist and philanthropist Paul Newman. SWN has been operating in Ghana since 2009 where it is helping to build and maintain water processing plants.
