Flu Vaccine Breakthrough Claim by Scientists

Newsday

Available for over a year

A universal flu vaccine, which would protect against any strain of the highly variable flu virus has been successful when treated on animals. Rather than targeting the "head" of the virus - which mutates frequently - the new drug effects the "stem" - meaning that it can remain effective for longer. Immunologist and virologist Dr Barney Graham was lead researcher on the study. (Photo: Man with flu sneezing into tissue Credit: PA)
