As New Orleans marks the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, one survivor - Nigerian born poet and professor of English Niyi Osundare – tells Â鶹Éç Africa's Fred Dove about his narrow escape. He describes what happened to his possessions, including precious old books that he had taken from Nigeria to the American city shortly before the storm. He also explains how his social life has changed since many Nigerians left New Orleans after the hurricane. (Photo: A flooded neighbourhood in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, Â鶹Éç, 2005)
