Digital Afterlife: To Exist or Not to Exist?

Newshour

Available for over a year

For good or bad most of us lead increasingly digital lives. But how many of us think about our digital afterlife? What happens to our google docs, facebook posts and online bills after we die? Individual internet companies have their own policies but in many cases families have to get a court order to gain access to the online documents. In the US state of California a new law has been drafted that will put the privacy of the individual and their online content above the rights of relatives. Evan Carroll is the co-author of the book "Your Digital Afterlife". He's concerned about the law. Photo Credit: Getty
