Libya Shopping by Kevin Connolly: 2011

From Our Own Correspondent

Available for over a year

When the Gaddafi regime toppled, events in Libya followed the classic revolutionary pattern. The dictator had come crashing down and with him, the world he had built. There was uncertainty about what would replace it: what shape would the new Libya take? Would it fulfil the dreams of the revolutionaries and be worthy of the sacrifices they made? On a shopping trip in Tripoli, Kevin Connolly reflected on what it meant to live through this particular moment in the country鈥檚 history.
