Should We Unplug Computers And Tablets From Schools?

Newsday

Available for over a year

Schools investments in computers and classroom technology might not be paying off. That's according to a global study from the think tank OECD which found that frequent use of tablets or computers is actually associated with lower results. Annual global spending on educational technology in schools has been valued at £17.5bn. So, what's the answer? Should we be unplugging computers in classrooms and getting back to chalk and blackboard learning? Andreas Schleicher, Education Director at OECD explains to Newsday the findings: (Photo: A pupils uses a computer during a music lesson at the Ridings Federation Winterbourne International Academy, Credit: Matt Cardy/Getty Images)
