Golden Mile Revamp

Jim Davis and Jo Hayward

Available for over a year

Private consultants are being brought in by the city council for a revamp of Leicester's Golden Mile. £4 million has already been spent on the demolition of Belgrave Flyover, along with a remodelling of Belgrave Circle. The work took more than a year to complete, and many local firms said the disruption took a huge bite out of their profits. But now the City mayor is inviting business owners and residents to come up with new ideas for revamping the rest of Belgrave Road. And to sort through these suggestions and come up with a grand plan for the Golden Mile, Sir Peter Soulsby is bringing in a transport-planning consultancy firm.
