Is Bridge a game or a sport? That's the question that's in the news today as a judicial review opens into the decision by Sport England to refuse to recognise the card game as a sport. But does it matter what it's called, and why? Well, the Charity Commisssion considers it a sport, so does the International International Olympic Committtee, but at the heart of the matter is money. Because it's a game, VAT is charged on all competition entry fees unlike other parts of Europe. This makes it more expensive for people to play - and in Leicestershire alone around 1,000 people take part. So what do you think? A sport or not?!
