When was the last time you had a drink in your local? And what sort of pub is it? Maybe it's now a gastro-pub - perhaps it's been renovated over the years. Or is a proper old fashioned boozer with dark varnish and a choice of cobs on the menu. Well when Julia Want and her late husband Paul took over the Old English Gentleman on Ashby Road in 1983 - little had changed in decades. In the time since the trade has changed beyond all recognition. Thirty two years on, Julia is retiring and she took Jo on a tour of the pub.
