Lee Miller's life was as extraordinary as her photos. A Twenties fashion model who became a Surrealist and later the only female combat photographer in Europe during World War Two, she documented the liberation of Dachau and Buchenwald concentration camps. She later married the artist Roland Penrose, but became an alcoholic, depressive and sometimes spitefully cruel mother. A new exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in London explores her and other women's wartime experiences. Hilary Roberts, who's written a book about Lee Miller, is the curator of the exhibition.
