Monument to the Spanish Civil War

My Century

Available for over a year

Laurentino Saenz de Baruaga is one of the Benedictine monks who still tend the Valle de los Caidos, or Valley of the Fallen, General Franco's gigantic mausoleum and Spain's civil war memorial. "The Valley of the Fallen is a place to find common ground for those who faced each other on the battlefield, and in the battle over ideas. For the victors the idea of reconciliation has prevailed above all others. It is the only monument of its kind in military history."
