Kunduz: 'almost like Iraq all over again'

Newsday

Available for over a year

Afghan government forces are attempting to recapture the key northern city of Kunduz, which fell to Taliban insurgents on Monday. President Ashraf Ghani urged Afghans to not give in to "fear and terror." US military officials say they're confident that the city can be retaken. But even if the Afghan army recaptures Kunduz what damage has been done to its credibility and that of the government. Thomas Johnson is a specialist on Afghanistan and counter terrorism at Naval Postgraduate school in California.
