Chris Moyles: 'My sacking was farcical'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Ex Radio 1 Breakfast host Chris Moyles says his sacking "was farcical" and the 麻豆社 wanted to give him just 15 minutes notice before announcing he was being fired to the media. That was three years ago and now the former self-styled saviour of Radio 1 is back on the airwaves. He's hosting the Breakfast show on the all-new Radio X Station. But recalling his high-profile sacking with Radio 1 Controller, Ben Cooper, he says: "We went in for literally a five minute meeting, me and my agent and Ben sits down and goes 'well, this is going to be very difficult'. "I thought he was going to say that we needed to set up a meeting to discuss how we'd dismantle the show and move on. I thought we'd arrange to meet next week and discuss that. "But he didn't, he just goes, 'I'm going to take you off and we鈥檙e going to announce it now. My agent at the time went crazy. It's now about 10:15 and they wanted to announce it on the news at 10:30. I said I was going to announce it because I should've earned that right. "It went on for a long time, it was farcical." This clip was originally broadcast on the Stephen Nolan programme on Friday 2nd October 2015
