Eric Hites, from Indiana in the US, found himself in crisis mode when he hit 40 years old. He had lost his job, his wife had left him and his weight had reached 567 pounds (257 kg). But when he heard the hit song “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by Scottish duo The Proclaimers, everything changed. The song, which talks about walking 500 miles to prove devotion to your loved one, inspired Hites to set out on a coast to coast journey across the US on a bike - to win back his wife and improve his health. He's already journeyed several hundred miles and is keeping followers updated via his blog, "Fat Guy Across America".
