If you're a regular user of your local library, you'll be aware aware of the fundamental changes which are transforming the service across Leicestershire. But those changes aren't being welcomed by some communities. There's been a furious reaction by Councillors and people living in a part of Leicestershire at the thought of their library closing and replaced with a mobile service. Last year the County Council asked 36 communities to voluntarily manage their own libraries to try and save £800,000 a year. In most areas that's happening, but not in Barwell, Braunstone Town, Mountsorrel and Narborough. So people in those areas are being asked to consider using a mobile service, if no group comes up with a viable plan.
