Thousands of civilians have been fleeing the Syrian city of Aleppo as government troops - backed by intensive Russian air strikes- have been pressing in and around the city's southern edge. Swiss video journalist Kurt Pelda has told Newsday that many people have been trying to move to safer grounds.
